Ubiquitous connectivity

I’m sometimes surprised by how easy it actually is to get on the Internet. Dave and I are both in transit, but I spoke to him on MSN chat as he sat on the train. Meanwhile, I’m on the Oxford Tube coach to London, with rolling hills either side of me, and I’ve got no problem at all connecting to the web. Pretty soon the entirety of the centre of Oxford will have wireless (although I think that won’t be free); this is something we can take advantage of to provide interesting services and enrich people’s lives.

The question is, how many people will actually have devices to connect?
