This video is kind of quaint now (it dates from 1992), but I was delighted to discover that Tim Hunkin’s Secret Life of Machines TV series is now completely available on Google Video. It’s worth remembering that in another fifteen years, everything we’re doing now is going to seem equally archaic – that said, the series is still a great educational resource and entertainment for people like me who are interested in how things work.

Don’t miss The Rudiments of Wisdom – a book I had as a child that has now been carefully scanned and turned into an online encyclopaedia in cartoon form. Great stuff.
