Elgg is a finalist in the New Statesman New Media Awards

We’re very proud to announce that Elgg is a finalist in the New Statesman New Media Awards 2007, in the Education category. The other finalists are Futurelab’s Create-a-scape multimedia toolkit and the Open University’s OpenLearn initiative – impressive company indeed!

What makes this particularly impressive is that each of the other finalists has received heavy funding, whereas Elgg has been a grassroots project for much of its life, predating Curverider by a couple of years. We have always believed in the project beyond thoughts of commercial gain, and continue to do so; whatever the outcome of the awards in a couple of weeks, it’s a great feeling to be recognised. Thank you to the New Statesman, and everyone who nominated us. We look forward to developing Elgg long into what promises to be a very exciting future.

One aspect of this future is next week’s Elgg Jam, hosted by the University of Brighton. Look out for coverage and more information soon!
